Earlier this year we had the opportunity to film a PSA with The Greatest Generations Foundation and World War II veteran Steve Melnikoff, who landed at Omaha Beach, on June 7, 1944 with the 29th Infantry Division.
We spent the day touring and reflecting at various monuments around Washington D.C. and later had the honor of capturing the funeral of another military hero, Colonel Douglas C. Dillard, who was buried with honors at Arlington National Cemetery. He served in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1977 as a Colonel after more than 35 years of service and held every rank in the Army except for General. Col. Dillard was awarded many medals, including the Legion of Merit and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
To say this was an absolute honor to be a part of is a vast understatement. This is something myself and our crew will never forget. And that’s exactly what we should do: Never forget what our veterans have done and are doing for our great country.
Enjoy your Memorial Day celebrations this weekend and don’t forget to thank a veteran if you see one. #HappyMemorialDay #AmericaRemembers #EveryDayIsMemorialDay
